Baxcalibur * Role: Tanky damage dealer. Switch in once Snow (and hopefully also Aurora Veil) is up, use a Scale Shot to get some speed, and then go ham. * EVs & Nature: Max HP, about even in Def & SpDef, and Adamant (+Atk, -SpAtk). Adamant gives enough Attack without any EVs, and this EV spread plus Ice Body ability and the Defense bonus for being an Ice Type in Snow makes for surprising durability. * Item: Loaded Dice enables both Icicle Spear and Scale Shot. * Moves: Icicle Spear for main attack, Scale Shot for damage and a Speed boost. I tried Icicle Crash (which allowed me to use Leftovers/Sitrus Berry for even more healing), but it missed too often for me. * Tera: Poison to mitigate Fighting/Poison attacks (Eff you, Sneasler!). * Other Thoughts: I tried Mamoswine for this role. It hit harder, but I like Baxcalibur’s typing better. Ninetails-A * Role: Fast Support. Snow Warning ability makes it Snow (giving Ice Types a Def boost), and Aurora Veil decreases Physical and Special damage. * EVs & Nature: Max HP, Max Speed, and Timid (+Speed, -Attack). Just need to go first and not die. * Item: Light Clay makes Aurora Veil last longer. * Moves: Blizzard is too good not to have. I tried Encore instead of Moonblast, but I think it takes someone smarter than me to make it work. * Tera: Steel to mitigate Poison/Steel attacks (Fire/Poison/Ground could also work?) * Other Thoughts: Super important! Don’t let her get KO’d early! Slowking-G * Role: SpDef Tank, Trick Room setter, Snow maker. Switch out frequently to take advantage of Regenerator ability. * EVs & Nature: Max HP, 52 in Def, 204 in SpDef, and Sassy (+SpDef, -Speed). Most prominent Physical threats are neutralized by typing, so focus is on SpDef. * Items: Leftovers is for healing. Could have gone with Sitrus Berry and Belch maybe? * Moves: Trick Room is obvious. Chilly Reception makes it Snow and then switches out. Chilly Reception is the whole reason I have Slowking-G. * Tera: Dark to mitigate Dark/Ghost attacks AND to stop Prankster Taunts (looking at you, Whimsicott). * Other Thoughts: The only other Pokémon with Chilly Reception is regular Slowking. I like Slowking-G’s typing better though. Overqwil * Role: Def Tank and Intimidate. Switch in and take a hit, Intimidate some fools, threaten a Crunch on a Gholdengo or something. * EVs & Nature: Max HP, 44 in Def, 212 in SpDef, and Impish (+Def, -SpAtk). Just stayin’ alive to do more Intimidates. Could maybe be Relaxed (+Def, -Speed) to work better in Trick Room? * Item: Black Sludge for healing. Rocky Helmet would have been good if Volcarona didn’t have it. * Moves: Could probably replace Barb Barrage with Toxic? The only move that really matters is Haze (anti-setup sweeper/anti-Dondozo). Haze is why I have Overqwil and not Incineroar. * Tera: Poison to get rid of Dark. I dunno. I never Tera Overqwil. * Other Thoughts: Takes a punch like a champ. Overqwil has never let me down. Ursaluna-B * Role: Trick Room special attacker. Kills Gholdengo and Archaludon. * EVs & Nature: Max HP, Max SpAtk, and Quiet (+SpAtk, -Speed). Just trying to hit hard and be slow. * Item: Assault Vest. Ursa-B’s biggest weakness is low SpDef, and it doesn’t need a Life Orb to do enough damage in Reg H. * Moves: Blood Moon, Earth Power, Hyper Voice, and… Vacuum Wave! Vacuum Wave’s +1 Priority with the Mind’s Eye ability can make absolutely sure you take out your target, even when Trick Room just ended. * Tera: Ghost to mitigate Fighting/Normal attacks(the other Ursaluna’s Facade can be a problem). * Other Thoughts: I’ve used Vacuum Wave to drop Gholdengos and Annihilapes that otherwise would have KO’d me. There are few things more satisfying than your slow-as-hell Special Attacker pulling out a Priority Fighting Type move to knock out a Ghost Type Pokémon. Volcarona * Role: Redirection and Set Up Sweeper. They don’t know if Volcarona’s going to Rage Powder to let someone else do something devastating or Quiver Dance to start doing something devastating herself. * EVs & Nature: Max HP, 116 Def, 140 SpAtk, and Modest. Just enough SpAtk to hurt some stuff and the rest in Def because you want Volcarona to get hit with Physical attacks to take advantage of the Flame Body ability and Rocky Helmet. * Item: Rocky Helmet to stack with the danger of Flame Body. I’ve also run Sitrus Berry, which worked well enough. * Moves: Fiery Dance to fish for SpAtk boosts, Giga Drain to get some health back (and to get a Grass Type attack on my team), Quiver Dance, and Rage Powder. * Tera: Grass to mitigate Water attacks and boost Giga Drain’s damage/healing. Terastalizing Volcarona to Grass is my preferred Tera with this team, if I don’t have to use it defensively somewhere else. * Other Thoughts: Volcarona is a beast. It’s so good at outputting damage that it’s sometimes hard to click Rage Powder. Indeedee might be a better Redirector, but I want Volcarona for Gholdengo and Archaludon.
