Note: Croconaw has the ability to tear some holes in teams but struggles to nab some KO's onto the quite common bulky waters in the tier. Swords Dance is used on the bulky set as your form of set-up and to be an immediate threat to whatever is in front of it. Dragon Dance allows you to be able to outspeed all non scarf Pokemon in the tier. Waterfall is your main form of STAB to do the most damage possible to things slower than you. Ice punch lets you hit the grass and dragon that resist your STAB attacks. Aqua jet allows you to be able to take out mons that are faster than you whereas crunch can be used to hit the bulky waters that resist your other moves while also hitting the likes of Duosion and Dusclops for super effective damage.
Checks & Counters: Bulky water type Pokemon, e.g. Wartortle and Prinplup, are able to take any hits and either get rid of the boosts or statusing Croconaw. Gloom and Tangela are both able to tank even a +2 ice punch and can sleep powder into killing it with giga drain. Most common scarfers are able to outspeed Croconaw at +1 and kill it. Most super effective moves used on Croconaw are able to take it out and it can be shut down by haze users such as dusclops. Ferroseed is capable at taking a hit from Croc and can cripple it with Thunder Wave but has to be wary of superpower.
Other Options: Superpower can be used to hit steel types like Ferroseed and Pawniard for more damage. Substitute can be used on a predicted switch to get easier set up.
