Cufant is notably tied for the weakest Steel Beam user with a phazing move in the entire meta. This notably gives Cufant a niche as a Steel Beam user that can outright evict opposing Imprison-Steel Beam users, letting it use Steel Beam in peace. However, Cufant has much worse support move options than its fellow tied compatriot, Skarmory. Cufant can use various support moves and even go for Tera Ghost Curse in case Steel Beam is too lethal, although it is unlikely to find opportunities to use those moves due to its low 40 base Speed unless it uses them in front of Imprison-Steel Beam users. 2 HP IVs let Cufant 2HKO itself with Substitute into Steel Beam. Jolly nature makes Steel Beam as weak as possible. The Tera type options grant the usual anti-Prankster, anti-trapper, and Steel Beam/Stealth Rock fodder options.
