Belly Drum Kommo-o (Dragon)

A well-known alternative set, Substitute + Belly Drum Kommo-o is able to bring forth the roaring Drums of War with careful deployment thanks to many features that provide this percussive menace with a unique position as a Belly Drum sweeper. Firstly, Substitute lets Kommo-o hide from any pokemon that attempt to status it or switch into it, which frees Kommo-o up to Belly Drum the next turn and eat its Salac Berry so that it can outspeed most other pokemon. If this scaly band kid is able to successfully set up, it can easily regain the HP lost in the process by virtue of STAB Drain Punch, which enables it to live a wide variety of priority moves and moves from faster pokemon once Sub is broken. Thunder Punch is used as a coverage move in order to hit bulky water and flying types that resist Drain Punch, though Ice Punch or Shadow Claw can be used instead. The final piece of what makes Kommo-o such a unique sweeper is its abilities: Bulletproof, which allows Kommo-o to find setup opportunities against pokemon that can only hurt Kommo-o with Ball or Bomb moves, such as Choiced Blacephalon, Mega Venusaur, or Ferrothorn, and Soundproof, arguably the more interesting of the two, which prevents Kommo-o from being affected by sound-based moves such as Mega Gardevoir's Hyper Voice through Substitute, along with having the neat side-effect of allowing it to switch in to and wall opposing Kommo-o running the standard Kommonium-Z set, as Soundproof causes Clangorous Soulblaze to fail and wastes the opponent's Z-Crystal. The only conun-drum this set has to deal with is faster pokemon and strong priority moves that are able to beat it out, but once those potential revenge-killers are out of the way, Kommo-o has a wonderful time striking fear into the hearts of its enemies and taking games with ease.
