Overview: Seadra's only niche in the NFE metagame is as a special attacker which abuses its ability Sniper in order to break through bulky walls. As a special attacker, it is mostly outclassed by Frogadier. As a physical attacker, it is completely outclassed by Croconaw. However, it has a good Speed stat, which allows it to outspeed notable threats such as Servine, Monferno, Gabite, and offensive Staravia sets. It also has a good Defense stat, which allows it to set up fairly easily on prominent physical attackers.
---------------------
Bulky CritDra: This bulky set makes use of Seadra's good physical bulk and allows it to set up Focus Energy on a reasonably portion of the physical attackers in the tier, including notable threats such as Gabite, Metang, Marshtomp, Staravia, and Vullaby. Focus Energy boosts Seadra's critical hit ratio by 2, which allows it to crit Pokemon more often and works well in conjunction with Sniper. Hydro Pump is a strong STAB attack which OHKOs Fire- and Ground-types such as Monferno, Combusken, and Krokorok, while also hitting most neutral targets very hard with Sniper-boosted critical hits. Ice Beam provides a valuable coverage option, which hits Dragon-, Flying-, and Grass-types such as Servine, Roselia, Gabite, Staravia, Fraxure, Quilladin, and Vibrava for super effective damage. Hidden Power Electric primarily provides a super effective attack to hit Mareanie, but also hits other opposing Water-types such as Prinplup and Wartortle.
---------------------
Checks and Counters: Ferroseed can tank Sniper-boosted Ice Beam and either cripple or Leech Seed Seadra in return. Other bulky specially defensive walls such as Munchlax and Lickitung can also tank Sniper-boosted attacks from Seadra and slowly chip it down and revenge kill it. As a wallbreaker, Seadra is heavily reliant on Sniper-boosted critical hits to wallbreak and deal significant damage to bulky walls. However, the odds of Seadra getting a critical hit after Focus Energy is 50%, which means Grass-types such as Servine and Roselia can revenge kill Seadra if Ice Beam does not crit. It is reliant on coinflip odds to wallbreak. Offensively, faster attackers such as Electabuzz, Haunter, and Kadabra can revenge kill Seadra at full or after some chip due to Seadra's poor HP and Special Defense stats.
