Its high Attack stat and a good offensive STAB provides a great offensive presence and avoids being passive against most pokemon. Although it is slow, its ability to reach 14 Speed to outspeed the entire unboosted pokemon lets it used a Choice Scarf set and can catch opponent's off-guard in conjuction with its offensive presence. However, it is still struggle against faster pokemon if not equipped with Choice Scarf. It is also prone to getting overwhelmed by strong attackers, even against physical sweepers such as Swords Dance Pawniard and Firium-Z Ponyta prior to Stamina boost.
