---------------------
Overview: Palpitoad's biggest advantage in the current metagame is its good offensive typing which allows it to hit common Pokemon such as Electric-, Fire-, Ground-, Rock-, and Steel-types for super effective damage. Palpitoad also has a reasonably good movepool which allows it to hit common Defoggers such as Servine and Togetic hard. However, offensive Palpitoad sets are very frail and easy to revenge kill. In addition, Marshtomp also outclasses it in terms of utility uses which leaves Palpitoad to function best when used offensively as a niche offensive Stealth Rock setter.
---------------------
Offensive Rocker: This set functions as both a good wallbreaker and an inconsistent Stealth Rock setter. Hydro Pump is Palpitoad's strongest STAB attack, allowing it to OHKO Fire- and Ground-types such as Monferno, Magmar, Krokorok, and Hippopotas. Earth Power is a great secondary STAB attack, which hits Electric-, Poison-, and Steel-types such as Alolan Grimer, Electabuzz, Mareanie, Metang, and Klang for super effective damage. Sludge Wave allows Palpitoad to hit Fairy- and Grass-types such as Servine, Clefairy, Quilladin, and Togetic for super effective damage and lets it punish common Grass-type switch-ins.
---------------------
Checks and Counters: Specially defensive Grass-type Pokemon such as Servine, Roselia, and Quilladin can easily tank Sludge Wave then OHKO it. Other specially defensive walls like Munchlax and Lickitung can also comfortably tank hits from Palpitoad and threaten it. Palpitoad is very frail and also fairly slow for a wallbreaker. In addition, it takes chip damage from Life Orb recoil. Therefore, most faster offensive threats, such as Kadabra, Haunter, Monferno, and Gabite, can check and revenge kill Palpitoad after a bit of Life Orb or hazard chip.
