---------------------
Overview: Thanks to its access to Sticky Web and a decent defensive typing, Dewpider is the premier web setter in the metagame. However, it is limited by its poor offensive stats, awful Speed tier, and weakness to Stealth Rock. In addition, webs is only a niche playstyle in the tier, which hinders Dewpider’s viability as a Sticky Web setter.
---------------------
PhysDef Sticky Web: This defensive set allows Dewpider to reliably switch into and check physical Fire- and Ground-types such as Monferno, Combusken, and Krokorok. Water Bubble boosted Scald, even without investment, hits both the aforementioned types hard whilst also crippling other physical attackers with burns. Magic Coat lets it reflect back hazards from bulky walls such as Clefairy and Roselia, as well as Toxic from Pokemon such as Prinplup. Toxic lets it wear down bulky Defog users, such as Togetic, Prinplup, and Vibrava, and other bulky walls. Ice Beam hits Gabite and Vibrava for super effective damage and chips bulky Grass-types like Roselia, Servine, and Quilladin.
---------------------
Offensive Sticky Web: The offensive set trades Dewpider's ability to check physical threats reliably in exchange for more offensive power. This allows Dewpider to better take advantage of its ability Water Bubble and chip opposing Pokemon better for teammates.
---------------------
Checks and Counters: Clefairy, Roselia, and Mareanie reliably wall all Dewpider sets as they can tank any attack and recover all chip damage. In addition, they are also immune to Toxic. Bulky Pokemon such as Prinplup, Togetic, and Dusclops can easily switch into and tank hits from Dewpider, but do not appreciate switching into Toxic. Dewpider has no form of reliable recovery so it is extremely susceptible to hazards and other forms of chip damage. Offensive Electric-types such as Electabuzz and Eelektrik can revenge kill Dewpider, but cannot reliably switch into it.
---------------------
Optional EV/IV(s): An alternative spread of 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 SpD with a Calm nature allows Dewpider to better check special threats such as Kadabra and Frogadier. A spread of 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe with an Adamant nature is viable for the Sticky Web, Liquidation, Leech Life, and Magic Coat set and lets Dewpider become an offensive physical threat.
