Overview: Fletchinder has an excellent ability in Gale Wings, giving +1 priority to Acrobatics, Fly, and Supersonic Skystrike when at full health, which makes it a great late-game cleaner. Though Fletchinder has a mediocre Attack stat, its access to Swords Dance mitigates this issue. Despite having a decent defensive typing which lets it check Pokemon such as Machoke, Servine, Monferno, and Metang, Fletchinder's frailty and crippling weakness to Stealth Rock prevents it from taking too many hits. As an offensive Flying-type, it faces heavy competition from other Flying-types such as Trumbeak, Staravia, and Rufflet.

Swords Dance + Flyinium Z: This offensive set makes use of Fletchinder's good Speed stat, offensive typing, and Gale Wings to break through teams mid-game or clean late-game. Swords Dance boosts Fletchinder's Attack and it can set up on passive Pokemon such as Clefairy and Lickitung. Fly is Fletchinder's strongest STAB attack and hits Fighting- and Grass-types such as Machoke, Roselia, Servine, Monferno, and Quilladin hard, at the cost of being a two turn attack. Supersonic Skystrike acts as a fantastic one turn STAB move with priority at full hit and is a strong nuke attack. Flame Charge is Fletchinder's best Fire-type STAB attack. It is a weak STAB attack, especially when unboosted, but it hits Steel-types such as Metang, Klang, and Pawniard hard after boosts. It also lets Fletchinder outspeed the entire unboosted metagame after one Flame Charge, which makes it less reliant on Gale Wings when faced against faster threats. Roost provides Fletchinder with valuable recovery and lets it get back to full to exploit Gale Wings.

Bulky Swords Dance: This more defensive Fletchinder set gives up the Supersonic Skystrike nuke in exchange for improved bulk. This lets it set up Swords Dance on more Pokemon such as Machoke, Roselia, Pawniard, Monferno, and Metang.

Checks and Counters: Electric-types such as Electabuzz and Eelektrik can tank a +2 hit from Fletchinder and revenge kill it with their STAB attacks. Water-types such as Mareanie, Marshtomp, and Wartortle can Haze away boosts and/or hit it hard with their STAB attacks. Kadabra can also revenge kill Fletchinder in exchange for its Focus Sash with Counter. Fletchinder is extremely prone and weak to Stealth Rock, since the hazard damage stops Gale Wings from providing the +1 priority for Flying-type attacks. Faster offensive threats such as Frogadier, Haunter, and Choice Scarf users such as Krokorok, Rufflet, and Staravia can revenge kill a weakened Fletchinder.
