Remember how I said Hala had a really good first fight? Well, his second fight is abysmal. More than half his Pokemon only have two moves. What was Game Freak thinking? Primeape was moved to the lead slot. Close Combat is a better move than Cross Chop, so that was an easy swap. Outrage doesn't do much for Primeape, so it was replaced with Poison Jab for Primarina coverage. Primeape didn't need two Dark moves, so both were replaced with Beat Up. Why Beat Up? Two reasons. It's decently strong at the start of the battle (at least 80 base power by my calculations), and its multihit nature screws over Lunala's Shadow Shield. Finally, U-turn is there for pivoting. For Hariyama, it also got a new Fighting move. Close Combat is usually the better choice, but Revenge is more fun, and better fits Hariyama's flavor as a tank. On a similar note, Knock Off was swapped with Payback. Fake Out was dropped because it's too late in the game to be of much use, and was replaced with EdgeQuake. Bewear continues the trend of getting a new Fighting move. It also gets Return for a second STAB move. Brutal Swing was replaced with Shadow Claw because the latter is stronger, and Thunder Punch hits Flying types and Primarina. Poliwrath gets a new Fighting move, this time for utility in Circle Throw. It also gets Earthquake for general coverage, and Hypnosis is there to fill the spot Ice Punch would have gone if tutors existed in this game. Surprisingly, Crabominable doesn't get any of its vanilla moves changed. Instead, it gets Earthquake for coverage, and Power-Up Punch for some boosting.
