Overview: With access to Light Ball, an item that doubles both Pikachu's Attack and Special Attack, and a good Speed stat, Pikachu is a very threatening wallbreaker in the metagame, capable of breaking through bulkier and faster teams with its attacks and priority. However, Pikachu's strong offensive presence is completely balanced out by its abysmal defensive stats.
---------------------
NFE Physical Wallbreaker: Light Ball boosted Volt Tackle hits neutral and super effective targets very hard. It heavily weakens bulky Flying- and Water-types like Staravia, Prinplup, Vullaby and Wartortle and outright OHKOs frailer super effective targets. Knock Off is a very splashable move in the tier, removing Eviolite and other items from opposing Pokemon and hitting Ghost- and Psychic-types like Misdreavus, Metang and Dusclops hard. Extreme Speed is a fantastic move on Pikachu; it hits frailer faster Pokemon like Electabuzz, Kadabra and Frogadier very hard and can revenge kill weakened setup Pokemon like Fraxure and Hakamo-o. Brick Break hits Dark- and Steel-types such as Pawniard, Ferroseed and Klang for super effective damage.
---------------------
Checks and Counters: Bulky Grass- and Ground-types such as Servine, Marshtomp, Quilladin, Gabite and Tangela can switch into and either force Pikachu out or revenge kill it, although none of these Pokemon appreciate losing their Eviolite. Offensively, Haunter and Focus Sash Kadabra can both revenge kill Pikachu. Pikachu is incredibly frail, which means that, if it cannot beat whatever is in front of it, it will likely get knocked out by an attack from an opposing Pokemon.
---------------------
Optional EVs/IV(s): An alternative spread of 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe with a Timid nature is viable for the Nasty Plot, Thunderbolt, Surf and Signal Beam set. This set acts a a lure and wallbreaker against the bulkier Grass- and Ground-types that wall the physical set. However, finding an opportunity to Nasty Plot with Pikachu is very difficult.
