Utility Tank (Foongus) @ Eviolite
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 124 HP / 156 Def / 156 SpD
Bold Nature
- Rage Powder
- Spore
- Giga Drain
- Protect / Pollen Puff / Clear Smog
Set Details: The only set Foongus needs. Rage Powder lets it do it's job of redirecting any non grass type for letting its teammate setup whatever it wants to. Spore is the main move that put Foongus over other redirectors. Spore can allow for even greater setup oportunities by allowing Foongus to put a single mon out of commission for a few turns. Giga Drain grants Foongus limited recovery, while also letting it handle Water Ground and Rock types like Omanyte. Protect allows Foongus to delay its death so an ally can come in and threaten it's threat out. Pollen Puff gives it another source of offense, while also allowing it to support its teammates even more by healing them. Clear Smog lets it check setup sweepers like Lileep by removing their boosts. The full investment into Foongus' bulk along with Eviolite lets it support its team throughout the game, along with Regenerator. The Bold nature allows it to take potential Knock Offs better, along with other physical attacks, such as Onix's STAB moves. Foongus is best when paired with setup sweepers, like Dragon Dance Tyrunt and Agility Porygon. It can struggle greatly against certain strong attackers who can hit it super-effectively, such as Rufflet, Ponyta, and Abra. Protect variants can also struggle to do anything to Grass types such as the aforementioned Lileep, but also Grookey. Lileep uses it as setup fodder while Grokey can knock off its precious Eviolite. Both ignore Foongus' redirection attempts, making it tougher for sweepers who are weak to Grass like Omanyte.
