O Oratio!
“The Prayer of New Life”
Rank: A+
Type: Anti-Army / Support
Range: Variable
Maximum Targets: Multiple allies
Description:
A two-stage Noble Phantasm requiring a period of preparation before its true effects manifest. The initial stage consists of an illusion and preparatory ritual, with no immediate enhancement applied.
Once the preparation is completed, allied targets receive a 1-Rank increase to Noble Phantasm Strength, 15% Card Effectiveness Up for 5 turns, moderate NP generation at intervals for 6 turns, and moderate Star Generation lasting until the end of battle.
The Noble Phantasm's ultimate price is Garcia himself. Upon completion of the offering, Garcia sacrifices his life and returns to the Throne of Heroes.
The preparation can continue even if Garcia is temporarily removed from the battlefield, but if Garcia dies before the preparation is completed, the second stage does not occur.
Chant:
“Domine, exaudi votum meum ultimum: ignosce iis qui mihi nocuerunt, et da illis robur. In hac oblatione omnis laus Deo debetur.”
Translation:
“Lord, hear my final prayer: forgive those who have harmed me, and give them strength. In this offering, all praise is due to God.”
Blessings of One
“No Legend Becomes God.”
Rank: A+
Type: Anti-Noble Phantasm / Anti-Self
Range: 50 × 50 meters
Maximum Targets: All enemies within the bounded field
Description:
Garcia uses his Bible as the catalyst for a bounded field covering a 50 × 50 meter area. Within the field, all Noble Phantasms below EX Rank are suppressed to their weakest effective state. Noble Phantasms ranked EX are unaffected.
Allied Noble Phantasms are unaffected by the field, allowing Garcia to suppress opposing legends while preserving the abilities of those fighting alongside him.
Garcia's own Magecraft Held by Scriptures remains fully usable within the field. The bounded field persists until either Garcia or the Bible serving as its catalyst is destroyed.
Chant:
“God above the world calls upon you the miracles you hold, give me the resolve to strike down those who oppose your tomorrow and grace those worthy the GRACE OF THE HEAVENS!”

Setting
A small living room with around early afternoon around summer
Yep. I remember the FGO profile we built for Pierre/The Blackened. Here is the whole thing tied together from stats, ascensions, skills, NPs, lore, and the weird little details.
Lancer/Avenger: The Blackened
True Name: The Blackened
Former Name: Pierre
Rarity: 5★ SSR
Classes: Lancer / Avenger
Alignment: Lawful Neutral leaning Neutral Good, with an increasingly distorted moral framework
Gender: Male
Height: Variable by Ascension, ultimately 7'9"
Origin: France, 15th century
Attribute: Human
Source: Historical Pierre, later transformed by Grail reconstruction and subsequent events
The important distinction is that The Blackened isn't simply “evil Pierre.” He is what remained after Pierre's life, memories, imprisonment, Grail reconstruction, resentment, self-condemnation, and survival became tangled together.
---
Parameters
Parameter Rank
Strength D++
Endurance B
Agility A
Mana EX
Luck E
Noble Phantasm A++
HP: 14,578
ATK: 14,653
His stats are deliberately weird.
He's not physically strong in the conventional heroic-spirit sense, hence the D++ Strength, but his Grail-derived body gives him absurd survivability and supernatural mobility.
Agility A is particularly important because his fighting style isn't based on brute force. He moves like something that has completely abandoned normal human biomechanics.
And then there's Mana EX, because his body is essentially a walking Grail anomaly.
Luck E is the joke that survived from Pierre's original life.
---
Command Cards
BBAAQ
He's still primarily a Buster-oriented Lancer.
His gameplay identity is basically:
> “I am going to hit you with an unreasonable amount of suffering and then probably hurt myself doing it.”
---
Noble Phantasm
Heaven's Hell
Rank: A++
Type: Buster
Classification: Anti-Army / Anti-Fortress depending manifestation
Target: All enemies
His signature NP.
It manifests an enormous localized magical storm, roughly comparable in physical scale to around 60% of Hurricane Katrina, with the sky becoming blood-red as fire, wind, debris and magical energy are dragged into the phenomenon.
The storm can be compressed into a roughly 15,000-foot manifestation, after which it is driven downward like an enormous projectile or drill.
Basically:
> Pierre weaponized a hurricane and decided the sky itself was now a spear.
Gameplay concept
Heaven's Hell:
Deals Buster AoE damage.
Applies Burn.
Deals increased damage to enemies already suffering Burn.
Cuts The Blackened's own HP by roughly half as part of the NP's cost/consequence.
So even his NP embodies his philosophy:
> “If I have to destroy myself to accomplish this, then so be it.”
---
Heaven's Hell symbolism
This is probably the most important part of the NP.
The storm represents:
suffering
abandonment
resentment
grief
anger
everything he was unable to express during captivity
The compression represents his obsession with forcing everything into one answer.
The final descent represents:
> “This is everything I have left.”
And the name itself is deliberately contradictory.
Heaven represents:
grace
recognition
peace
divine meaning
hope
Hell represents:
abandonment
isolation
physical destruction
distorted memories
endless existence
It's effectively his entire existence compressed into one Noble Phantasm.
---
Heaven's Hell and Jeanne
The strongest thematic comparison is La Pucelle.
Jeanne's mentality:
> “I will give myself so others may live.”
Pierre's corrupted inversion:
> “I will give myself so what hurts others can burn.”
He admired Jeanne before he ever met her.
He saw her banner at Orléans and became fascinated by the person behind it. His original wish was simply to someday know who she was and thank her.
He never got that chance.
He later learned that the person he saw being dragged from her horse at Compiègne was Jeanne.
And then Pierre died shortly afterward.
So Heaven's Hell becomes an incredibly twisted answer to the admiration he once had for her.
---
NP chant
His chant culminates in:
> “God above, I offer my body for you to be rightfully hated and condemned, your sons treated one of your faceless brothers as nothing, more welcomed by Hell's outwardly pleasures and hatred. Allow me to respond in kind and return upon your kingdom and so...”
Then:
> “So you can truly hate me with all of your all-forgiving heart, as I obsessively craved.”
That's basically Pierre turning divine forgiveness itself into something he wants to be rejected by.
---
Other Noble Phantasms / abilities
Hell's Calling
Rank: B+
Type: Anti-Unit
His corrupted version of La Pontoise Javelin.
The corrupted arm can detach, be thrown upward, and detonate above the target. Grail-derived mass then descends onto the target.
Instant Death: base 5%.
The interesting mechanic is that the target's attributes influence their vulnerability.
Higher:
Endurance
Mystery
make them more vulnerable.
Higher Magic Resistance makes them more resistant, but never completely removes the base 5% possibility.
And yes, the arm regenerates.
Because of course it does.
---
Désir de fatalité
Rank: A
Type: Anti-Fortress
A delayed Grail corruption attack.
Pierre touches the target with his corrupted arm and leaves a Grail trace inside their Saint Graph.
The corruption remains dormant for roughly two days before reaching the activation threshold and detonating inward.
It's expensive and not simply unavoidable.
The scary part isn't the immediate attack.
It's the realization:
> “He touched me two days ago.”
---
Hell and Heaven
This is the really insane one.
Subtitle:
> “I Return My Body Upon You, Father, My Soul to Hell.”
Type: Anti-Self
This isn't currently part of his normal manifested NP set in the same way Heaven's Hell is. It's effectively the ultimate Grail-derived self-erasure mechanism.
Activation requires:
1. Heaven's Hell is active.
2. The storm becomes stationary.
3. Pierre gives up his Saint Graph.
4. He removes himself from the Throne, including the relevant record/fragments.
5. His Grail-derived body liquefies back toward its original Grail state.
6. He takes roughly one quarter of the resulting mass.
7. That mass is converted into explosive Grail material.
8. He releases it from above.
9. The Servant called The Blackened ceases to exist as a manifested record.
The joke description remains:
> The man doesn't merely evacuate the battlefield. He evacuates existence.
---
Class Skills
Avenger: A
His resentment is enormous, but strangely enough it isn't simply hatred.
He carries the accumulated hatred, guilt and condemnation associated with his existence.
Magic Resistance: B
Despite his Grail nature, he retains considerable resistance to magecraft.
Mental Resistance: B++
His mind has been exposed to an absurd amount of psychological manipulation.
He is consequently extremely difficult to mentally break in conventional ways.
The irony is that this does not mean he has a healthy psyche.
It means he's already been broken in several different directions and learned how to keep functioning anyway.
---
Personal Skills
Self Damnation: A
Raises his offensive capability while repeatedly lowering his own defensive and resistance capabilities.
Thematically:
> “I condemn myself.”
Mechanically, he becomes stronger while making himself increasingly vulnerable.
It's basically his entire personality turned into a skill button.
---
Hellfire: EX
Instantly gives him a massive amount of NP charge, around 50%, while applying Burn to both himself and everyone around him.
It is simultaneously:
NP preparation
offensive pressure
self-damage
thematic self-punishment
He literally burns himself to prepare his ultimate attack.
---
Self Modification: D
The most disgusting funny skill.
He can detach, reshape or explode pieces of his Grail-derived body and convert the resulting magical material into Critical Stars.
Then he regenerates the missing material.
So instead of:
> “I generate critical stars through combat.”
it's basically:
> “Give me a second, I'm going to tear my own arm off.”
And then the arm comes back.
---
Fighting style
His fighting style is deliberately impossible to categorize.
It's:
15th-century French footman fundamentals + rookie spearman + Grail magecraft + analog horror movement + improvised combat + “whatever works.”
His philosophy:
> “If it works, keep doing it.”
> “If it doesn't, do something else.”
He'll use:
spear
fists
elbows
headbutts
shield
corrupted limbs
Grail projectiles
detached body parts
debris
environmental objects
magecraft
bizarre body reshaping
His movement can become completely unnatural because the Grail body doesn't have to obey ordinary human anatomy.
---
Ascensions
And this is where the whole profile comes together visually.
First Ascension
4'9", 46 kg Pierre.
He has:
oversized gambeson
kettle hat
enormous shield
5'5" shield
9-foot spear
The equipment is absurdly oversized because the actual Pierre is tiny.
The shield is literally taller than him.
The spear is nearly twice his height.
It looks ridiculous until you remember that this is genuinely the same Pierre who served as a soldier.
---
Second Ascension
5'4".
Same basic medieval equipment and appearance, but now the proportions make much more sense.
This is basically Pierre becoming the soldier he was growing into.
---
Third Ascension
Now the Blackened starts showing.
corrupted right arm
Grail-derived features
increasingly unnatural body
modern clothing
less obvious medieval identity
The player starts realizing that the “normal Lancer” was only the beginning.
---
Fourth Ascension
The Blackened.
The full 7'9" Grail-derived eldritch humanoid.
Modern clothing.
Corrupted body.
Analog-horror movement.
Grail anatomy.
Everything that made him The Blackened is now fully visible.
And yet he's still the same guy.
That's the punchline.
The progression goes:
> Tiny French footman
to
> Slightly less tiny French footman
to
> “Why is his arm made of Grail?”
to
> “WHY IS THE SEVEN-FOOT-NINE ELDritch creature STILL THE SAME TICKLISH 16-YEAR-OLD?”
---
The most important continuity joke
The Grail reconstructed basically everything about his body.
It did not reconstruct:
bones
organs
normal muscles
normal nerves
conventional human anatomy
But somehow it preserved:
his childhood sensory responses
his exact ticklishness
his ticklish spots
his bubbly squeaky laugh
his tendency to relax with his arms behind his head
So his body can go from 4'9" human Pierre to 7'9" Grail anomaly, and someone can still tickle him and get the exact same laugh.
The Grail basically said:
> “Everything about your human anatomy is optional.”
> “Except that you're ticklish.”
---
Personality
The Blackened is not simply an edgy villain.
He's someone who spent years being told what he was, eventually believed it, and then built his entire identity around accepting the verdict.
His core flaw is that his virtues have no brakes.
His:
self-sacrifice becomes self-erasure
acceptance becomes resignation
responsibility becomes taking blame for things he didn't do
empathy becomes absorbing everyone's suffering
resilience becomes tolerating things he shouldn't
independence becomes isolation
adaptability becomes identity instability
humor becomes emotional deflection
suspicion becomes inability to trust
helpfulness becomes exploitability
His greatest strengths are frequently his greatest weaknesses.
---
Post-Grail Blackened
Eventually, though, he reaches an important realization:
> Acceptance does not mean approval.
He can accept that he may never know the complete truth.
He can accept that some accusations are false.
He can accept that some may be true.
He can accept that he'll never know which.
But he doesn't have to stop living.
Hence:
> “I resigned. I didn't give up my life, smart ass.”
And that is why the fourth Ascension can actually be funny instead of permanently miserable.
He learns WWE.
He learns internet culture.
He develops a heel persona.
He trash-talks people.
He hates John Talbot for the incredibly sophisticated reason:
> “Fuck it, I hate you because you're English.”
He threatens German suplexes.
He'll still volunteer to be humanity's existential garbage bin, but now he can also go:
> “I accepted the weight of existence. I did not accept being boring.”
---
The complete character arc in one line
A 4'9", 46 kg French boy who wanted to meet the woman behind a banner becomes a 7'9" Grail-made eldritch anomaly who weaponizes hurricanes, burns his own Saint Graph, rejects his own identity, becomes humanity's existential garbage bin, then eventually decides that accepting existence doesn't mean he has to stop being a ridiculous asshole.
And somehow, after all of that, he's still ticklish.
The Blackened / Pierre
True Name: The Blackened
Former Name: Pierre
Origin: France
Sex: Male
Alignment: Chaotic good /lawful good(formerly)
Primary Classes: Lancer / Avenger
Status: Counter Guardian / Servant
Rarity: 5★ SSR
Pierre was originally an ordinary French teenage soldier and spearman. He was born into an ordinary family and never sought fame, titles, wealth, or recognition. His father taught him to do his duty, earn things honestly, and not involve himself in problems that were not his concern.
At 16, Pierre joined the army by claiming to be 17. He became a soldier during the Hundred Years' War and eventually encountered the forces surrounding Jeanne d'Arc. He admired Jeanne as a symbol of hope, faith, and resistance, although he never knew her personally in any meaningful way.
During the fighting around Compiègne, Jeanne was captured. Pierre fought during the chaotic retreat and failed to save her. Later, he learned that the person dragged from her horse was Jeanne herself.
The failure devastated him.
He became consumed by guilt, wondering whether he should have done more. Eventually, this guilt became intertwined with resentment toward Jeanne herself. To Pierre, Jeanne represented everything he had failed to become: hope, faith, victory, meaning, and the possibility that suffering could lead somewhere.
Pierre's life eventually ended in tragedy, but the Counter Force recognized something unusual in him. His unresolved guilt, resentment, and desire for an answer made him suitable to become a Counter Guardian.
However, Pierre's story did not end with death.
He was eventually subjected to an extremely long period of magical containment lasting 95 months, approximately 7 years and 11 months.
He was restrained almost completely:
- head and forehead
- torso
- shoulders
- arms
- hands and fingers
- waist
- thighs
- knees
- ankles
- feet
He was blindfolded, gagged, prevented from hearing normally, and suspended slightly above the ground so that he could not properly rest against a wall or floor.
The facility surrounding him contained 24 bounded fields designed to suppress, drain, equalize, and control magical energy.
He experienced hunger, thirst, sickness, exhaustion, isolation, experimentation, psychological manipulation, and repeated interference with his memories and emotions.
Whenever his magical energy was drained too far, a fragment of the Grail within him could replenish it.
The containment eventually destroyed his normal sense of identity.
Pierre began to believe that perhaps the people controlling him were correct when they called him a monster.
His reasoning became:
«“If I was the monster, then everything made sense.”»
«“If I deserved it, then I didn't have to wonder why it happened.”»
Eventually, Pierre could no longer reliably distinguish his own memories, guilt, imposed beliefs, and genuine identity.
His original human body was ultimately replaced by a Grail-derived body.
The body contains no conventional biological organs, bones, muscles, or nerves. It is instead an artificial humanoid mass resembling wet clay, mud, or supernatural slop. It can regenerate, reshape itself, change its mass and height, and form weapons from its own body.
Its normal final form is approximately 7'9", although it can alter its size from roughly 3 feet to 25 feet.
The Grail-derived body can also store, circulate, stabilize, and weaponize enormous amounts of magical energy.
It can manipulate temperature throughout itself. Different parts of the body can be heated or cooled independently, allowing him to move heat around his body, prevent overheating, and concentrate thermal energy into weapons.
This eventually produced The Blackened.
The Blackened is what remains when Pierre's original identity, trauma, resentment, Counter Guardian nature, and Grail-derived existence become fused together.
He is not simply evil.
His defining philosophy is actually centered around agency:
«“You don't get to decide another person's life for them.”»
«“Freedom means reality gets to disagree with you.”»
He strongly dislikes people who decide what others should become, particularly when they impose their own idea of salvation or morality upon everyone else.
This is why his relationship with Jeanne is so complicated.
He hates her.
He envies her.
He respects her.
Jeanne represents hope, faith, miracles, and forgiveness, while The Blackened represents despair, corruption, hatred, abandonment, and self-damnation.
He once desperately wanted Jeanne to kill him because he believed that dying by her hand would symbolically complete his story.
Jeanne refused.
That refusal became one of the most important things in his psychological development.
She forced him to confront the possibility that his desire to die was not necessarily the same thing as knowing what he deserved.
His greatest unanswered question remains:
«“Did I deserve everything that happened to me?”»
Nobody ever gave him an answer.
His Noble Phantasms and abilities reflect this history.
Eye of God
The Eye of God reconstructs psychological and cognitive information, including memories, emotional associations, inconsistencies, and patterns in a person's behavior.
Because of his containment trauma, The Blackened became exceptionally resistant to many conventional psychological attacks. His mind is already fragmented and operates in ways that can be difficult for others to predict.
Merry Merry Hellish Eyes
Anyone who looks into these eyes can become trapped inside a psychological world reconstructed from their own memories.
The victim can understand that the environment is artificial and still remain trapped.
Only The Blackened can release them.
Heaven's Hell
A massive Buster-type Noble Phantasm representing his hatred, grief, abandonment, resentment, and despair.
It creates a localized catastrophic storm resembling a supernatural Category 4 hurricane, with a blood-red sky and enormous destructive force.
The manifestation can be compressed and launched downward like a gigantic projectile or drill.
It is also symbolically connected to Jeanne's La Pucelle, functioning as a corrupted inversion of the concept.
Hell's Calling
A corrupted version of the Pontoise javelin.
The Blackened can throw a corrupted portion of his own body upward. It detonates above the target and releases liquid Grail material downward.
It possesses a chance of instant death that interacts strangely with the target's Endurance, Mystery, and Magic Resistance.
Désir de fatalité
A delayed internal corruption Noble Phantasm.
By touching someone, The Blackened leaves a Grail trace inside their Saint Graph. After approximately two days, the corruption reaches a threshold and detonates internally.
Hell and Heaven
His ultimate self-erasure Noble Phantasm.
«“I Return My Body Upon You, Father, My Soul to Hell.”»
The Blackened sacrifices his own Saint Graph and effectively removes himself from the Throne of Heroes, including his recorded existence and fragments.
His body liquefies into magical energy, part of which fuels Heaven's Hell, while another portion becomes explosive Grail material.
He essentially evacuates himself from existence.
Despite everything that happened to him, The Blackened retains a strange capacity for compassion.
He protects civilians and noncombatants whenever possible. He can be pragmatic or brutal toward enemy Servants, but he does not automatically consider everyone disposable.
He also has a strong respect for people's freedom to choose their own lives.
His greatest fear is not death.
It is becoming someone who decides another person's life for them.
His greatest unresolved problem is whether Pierre ever truly disappeared, or whether The Blackened is simply what Pierre became after everyone else spent years telling him what he was.
The answer remains uncertain.
And that uncertainty is part of him.
Pierre, Post-Compiègne
“The Charge of the Bold Spear: Au début”
Unofficial subtitle: “To Renew the Beginning”
Concept / Identity
Compiègne Pierre is neither simply the old Pierre nor The Blackened.
He is a synthesis of both.
When Compiègne activates, the Blackened identity withdraws rather than being erased. Its accumulated experiences, instincts, scars, memories, and remnants are inherited by the original Pierre, allowing him to return to the beginning without forgetting the 95 months that followed his first death.
The result is not a resurrection of the old Pierre. It is Pierre renewed by everything he became afterward.
The Blackened does not disappear as though it never existed. Its remnants become part of Pierre's inheritance.
«“I was Pierre. I became The Blackened. I'm still Pierre.”»
His philosophy after the Lostbelt is that suffering can explain a person without owning them.

Parameters
STR: B-
END: B++
AGI: A-
MANA: E
LUCK: E
NP: B
Command Cards: BBAAB
He has lost the Grail-derived artificial body and enormous magical reserves of The Blackened, but remains a highly capable human-style spearman.
His physical combat ability is still strong enough to contend with other Servants despite his vastly reduced supernatural resources.
His extreme endurance represents his stubbornness, battlefield experience, and refusal to stop rather than conventional invulnerability.
---
Noble Phantasm
Compiègne
“The Charge of the Bold Spear: Au début”
Unofficial subtitle: “To Renew the Beginning”
Rank: B
Type: Anti-Unit / Anti-Self
Secondary classification: Reality Marble-like
Combat niche: Anti-Burst / forced-attention survival
Compiègne recreates Pierre's final charge at Compiègne.
It does not transport everyone into another world or completely rewrite reality. Instead, it overlays the existing battlefield with Pierre's subjective memory of the charge.
The manifestation recreates what Pierre experienced:
- adrenaline
- fear
- hesitation
- conviction
- foolishness
- pain
- battlefield confusion
- the sensation of charging toward an overwhelming enemy
- the psychological experience of his final moments
It is not a perfect historical recreation. It is Pierre's memory of Compiègne made into a battlefield phenomenon.
During activation, his 7'9" Grail-derived Blackened body withdraws and collapses back into his original human form, approximately 5'5".
He appears in a badly damaged gambeson with scraps of armor, without his kettle hat or pavise, carrying only a spear.
The spear does not need to be legendary.
It can simply be whatever spear Pierre takes up.
The weapon is not important.
The person holding it is.
---
Compiègne's Central Rule
The NP deliberately removes almost everything that made The Blackened extraordinary.
Pierre cannot rely on:
- the Grail body
- massive magical reserves
- regeneration
- monstrous transformations
- damnation-based abilities
- his full Blackened arsenal
- normal magecraft
- overwhelming supernatural power
Instead, the NP leaves him with essentially a human infantryman, a spear, and his will to continue.
His own remaining Mystery can be transferred into the spear, turning the weapon into a vessel for everything he has left.
«“My life may falter. This spear wouldn't.”»
The NP is therefore an inversion of a conventional power-up.
It is a subtraction.
---
Delayed Death
While Compiègne is active, Pierre gains a unique status called Delayed Death.
Lethal damage that would normally kill him does not immediately end the NP.
If an attack deals enough damage to reduce him below zero HP, the lethal portion is effectively deferred rather than erased.
Pierre can continue fighting despite damage that should already have killed him.
However, this is not immortality and not normal Guts.
His death is merely delayed.
Terminal conditions
Pierre eventually dies when either:
1. Five turns pass, causing automatic death, or
2. The special HP-equalizing condition of the NP is fulfilled by an attack.
Instant Death bypasses Delayed Death.
Curses also bypass Delayed Death.
Normal damage that does not exceed his current HP behaves normally.
The purpose is to prevent enemies from simply deleting him with one enormous burst.
The enemy has to actually deal with the rules of the charge.
«“You can kill me. Just not yet.”»
---
Historical Threshold
Compiègne ultimately reenacts the conceptual endpoint of Pierre's historical charge.
The battle progresses toward the point where young Pierre had already put down roughly three Burgundian opponents before becoming critically wounded and falling.
This is not simply a literal kill counter.
It represents the NP reaching its historical/conceptual threshold.
Once Pierre reaches that point, the charge cannot be stopped.
Even if he has accomplished his objective and is still technically alive, the reenactment has reached the point where Pierre historically fell.
Therefore, the NP becomes terminal.
Pierre cannot simply cancel it and walk away.
---
NP Overcharge
Against a burned target:
Buster damage +15%
Critical damage +15%
Burn stacks are treated individually for his relevant effects.
This makes his Overcharge synergize directly with his Burn-based personal skills.
---
Personal Skills
1. Spear of Compiègne C
Cooldown: 4 turns
Can only be activated while Compiègne is active.
Effect:
- Buster Card Performance +30%
This represents the Mystery Pierre concentrated into the spear during the charge.
It is not a massive magical weapon.
It is the remaining conceptual force of Pierre himself being concentrated into the weapon.
---
2. Infantry Fundamentals C
Cooldown: 5 turns
A deliberately mundane skill representing Pierre's actual experience as an infantryman.
Rather than supernatural power, it represents:
- battlefield fundamentals
- footwork
- positioning
- weapon handling
- practical combat experience
- infantry tactics
It provides a comparatively small critical-generation effect.
The skill is intentionally mundane because Compiègne is about stripping Pierre back down to the human soldier beneath the later mythology.
---
3. Paradox of the Damned EX
Cooldown: 7 turns
Pierre deliberately sacrifices survivability in exchange for overwhelming offensive potential.
Effects
- Endurance becomes E
- Maximum HP reduced to 65%
- Attack increased by 3 stages
- Critical performance increased by 3 stages
- Buster performance increased by 3 stages
- Attacks inflict 1-turn Burn
- Burn is stackable
The conceptual paradox is:
«“If this body cannot survive, then I don't need it to survive.”»
This skill represents the remnants of The Blackened's philosophy surviving inside the renewed Pierre.
It is both a combat mechanic and a character flaw.
He has learned that suffering does not determine his worth, yet the temptation to turn himself into a weapon remains.
---
Passive Skill
Hell's Hound
The Blackened is gone as Pierre's dominant identity, but its hunting instinct remains.
Effect:
Against a burned enemy:
Buster damage +5%
Each Burn stack counts individually for the relevant Burn-based interaction.
The conceptual meaning is:
«The monster is gone, but the instinct it left behind survived.»
Pierre is not becoming The Blackened again.
He is using one of its remnants without surrendering himself to it.
---
Simple
A deliberately dangerous passive ability.
Effect:
Buffs and debuffs applied to Pierre are doubled in effect.
This means his own buffs become significantly stronger, but enemy debuffs also become significantly more dangerous.
It makes Pierre extremely powerful when his setup works and extremely risky when the enemy exploits his weaknesses.
Thematically, it fits his tendency to experience everything intensely.
---
Full Offensive Loop
When Pierre has the ideal setup:
Compiègne active
↓
Delayed Death activated
↓
Spear of Compiègne
↓
Paradox of the Damned EX
↓
Attack / Crit / Buster increases
↓
Burn stacks begin accumulating
↓
Hell's Hound increases Buster damage
↓
Overcharge adds further Buster/Crit damage against Burned targets
↓
BBB Brave Chain becomes possible
↓
Massive Buster/Crit damage
↓
Pierre's survivability continues collapsing
↓
Five-turn death clock approaches
↓
Compiègne reaches its terminal threshold
↓
Pierre dies
In other words:
«He gets stronger while becoming progressively less capable of surviving his own strategy.»
He is not a conventional tank.
He is not a conventional glass cannon.
He is essentially a self-destructive anti-burst Buster attacker.
---
Major Weaknesses
- 65% maximum HP under Paradox of the Damned
- Endurance becomes E under Paradox
- MANA E
- Enemy debuffs become more dangerous because of Simple
- Instant Death bypasses Delayed Death
- Curses bypass Delayed Death
- Sustained damage still works normally
- The five-turn terminal condition cannot simply be ignored
- The special HP-equalizing condition can end the protection
- Compiègne cannot simply be canceled once the reenactment reaches its terminal phase
- Activating Compiègne permanently strips away his Grail-derived body for that summon
- Afterward, his Grail body remains unavailable in subsequent summons until another Grail fragment is consumed

Activating Compiègne does not merely change Pierre's appearance temporarily.
It represents the Blackened/Grail body withdrawing and leaving its remnants behind.
After the summon ends, Pierre remains without the Grail body.
To regain the artificial Grail-derived body, he must consume another Grail fragment.
He retains his Lancer/Avenger nature and his personal skills, but his magical resources are dramatically reduced.
This makes Compiègne a genuine sacrifice of accumulated power rather than a temporary transformation.

Thematic Meaning
The Blackened accumulated 95 months of suffering and transformed that suffering into identity.
Compiègne reverses that process without erasing it.
Young Pierre returns.
But he returns carrying:
- the memory of his first death
- the 95 months
- the Blackened identity
- the Grail
- the guilt
- the resentment
- the shame
- the lessons
- the people he met
- the things he became
- the things he regrets
- the things he refuses to repeat
The Blackened withdraws.
Pierre inherits what remains.
Therefore Compiègne is not:
“I want to become who I used to be.”
It is:
“I can remember who I was without pretending I never became someone else.”
That is why “To Renew the Beginning” does not mean reversing history.
It means returning to the moment where everything began and giving that moment a new meaning.
Young Pierre charged without understanding the cost.
Post-Lostbelt Pierre charges while knowing exactly what the cost is.
And that difference is the entire point.
«He doesn't erase the 95 months. He carries them back to the beginning.»
