CHAPTER 1:
BinaclePinnacle — 01/27/2022
I wake up, disoriented and fearful.
“Where.....”
Last I’d remembered, I’d joined Temp in a battle, and.....
A warm sea breeze hits me, as ocean water sprays my face.
“Just like when I was a.... a Cawdet...”
It hit me then: If I wasn’t recovering from my battle with the Gardevoir, then I.....
It was certainly a pleasant feeling.
This was heaven.
Just as I became lost in my paradise, I notice something drag me along the sand.
I try to pull myself away, but...
“My arms!”
The only thing I could do in my panic was find out who was trying to take me away from my utopia.
A.... Binacle? But only one... and it was about as large as me, too.
Besides, how was it-
I look down.
I was attached to a stone.
All I could do was flail and scream as the reality of my situation hit me.
“Hey, shut up, will you?!”
My..... partner? She seems angry.
But that voice....
“STITCH?!”
I decided then: This was no heaven, this was hell!

CHAPTER 2:
“So you’re really BinPin, huh....”
“Yep.”
“What’s your favorite move?”
“Belly Drum.”
“Do I have a pet?”
“PokeArt, the Snom.”
“Uhhh... what’s my favorite band?”
“Ice Ice Body.”
Seems like Stitch hated this as much as I did.
“Cawmodores know the ocean pretty well, right? At least make yourself useful and tell me where we are...”
I was already tired of Stitch’s attitude.
“Well.... this rock we’re attached to is brown, not grey like the ones near the shore at Temp’s house.”
“So... this can’t be close.”
I decided to have a bit of fun. “Now, if only you knew anything useful...”
“SHUT UP!”
There was something else I knew about this place, though: These brown rocks must mean this is a Unovan shore.
Cawdet love to feed here, and us, being Binacle....
“Hey, Stitch, we should probably go now.”
We’d have to find a place to sleep.
“HEY DUMBASS! You think shoveling up some sand is gonna help us?!”
“This is how Binacle nest.”
Stitch somehow became angrier than before: “You think I’m gonna sleep in a hole?!”
“If you don’t want to be picked apart by a Cawdet, yes.”
I quite enjoyed this; I’d been away from the ocean, my home, for years, but I couldn’t stop thinking about my friends. Who’s to say they survived....
Sealed in our hole, Stitch and I started to form a plan.
“If this is Unova... Hoenn’s pretty far, right?”
“Yes.... but Temp shouldn’t leave anytime soon, so we have a Point B.”
I thought of something then. It wasn’t foolproof, but it was our best bet.
“It’s summertime, so Pelipper should start migrating to Hoenn soon. If we could hitch a ride...”
“And how do you know we won’t get eaten alive?”
“Pelipper don’t like Binacle since they can’t swallow their stones. We should be safe.”
I decided I should sleep on this, the sun had already set and the Cawdet had ended their feeding session.
Wakes up suddenly
“Yo, BinPin!”
It was the middle of the night.
“You didn’t sleep a wink, did you...”
“That’s not important, look!”
Leaves hole
“....Fireworks?”
We scrambled up onto shore to investigate.
It was a Fire Pokemon, clearly. “But why so close to the beach?” Stitch said.
Seemingly oblivious to our presence, the Fire Pokemon wildly danced on the wet sand.
“Hee-hoo! What a pleasant world this is!”
Suddenly, it.... removes its head?!
“H-hey!” I shout
Again, oblivious, it tosses its head into the air, creating an eerily beautiful explosion.
Miraculously, the head grows back instantaneously.
Stitch drags us to approach the odd Pokemon.
It looks down onto us
“O-ho! Lost souls, I see, I see!”
Picks us up
“HEY! LET US GO!”
“Oh no no no, this simply won’t do...”
“It is ever-so-clear, you poor souls don’t belong here!”
“What even are you?!” I shout.
“I am not of this world, you see, lost souls.”
“I’m a Blacephalon, Eri the Blacephalon!”

CHAPTER 3:
“Oho! You two are a curious pair, indeed!” Eri studied us closely, never giving us the chance to wriggle free
Stitch, clearly less fearful than I, shouted: “How the hell do you even know who we are?!”
“And can you stop calling us lost souls?”
“But are you not lost spirits, my friends?”
“L-listen...” I say, gaining enough confidence to speak. “You’re right, these aren’t our bodies.... but how did you-“
A childish laugh. “Your spirit energy, of course!”
They must’ve sensed our confusion. “So your people lack the knowledge of spirits?”
With another laugh, we were dropped back onto the sand without warning. “I suppose I should teach you, lost spirits?”
“STOP CALLING US THAT!”
“Heehoo..... you’re not any fun, are you two, BinPin and Stitch?”
“Our names?! But how...”
Eri held back another laugh. “Another ability of mine, my friends! I’ve searched the deepest crevices of your mind... I know your every thought!”
Stitch, who was seemingly daydreaming, snapped out of her trance.
“H-hey now, no need to do that.... no way that’s actually possible, r-right?”
Another laugh, longer and louder than the rest.
“No, no, silly creatures! I just overheard your quarreling out at shore!”
As Stitch breathed a sigh of relief, I decided to chip in.
“So was the spirit thing also a lie?”
“Oh no, it is true that your souls lost their way...”
“You, tiny ones, are not supposed to remember a thing after your rebirth! But it is very clear to me now, yes, you absolutely must be influenced by a-“
Eri froze then.
“...It seems I am needed elsewhere, my friends!”
“A mission... yes, yes, a mission!” Eri seemed to be talking to no one in particular.
“You tiny things, you...” Eri removed their head. “Keep an eye on this, will you?”
“I promise, yes, the knowledge of souls upon my return!”
“Um, sure...” I say.
“Oh, joyful day! I must be off, lost souls, but know this: within this very sea, others like you lie!”
With that, Eri stumbled off headless and disappeared within the ocean.
Stitch and I were frozen in shock for a while; Stitch was the first to say something.
“I-I guess we should hide this somewhere?”
Still too shocked to speak, I could only nod in agreement.

CHAPTER 4:
“What do Binacle eat anyway...?” Stitch said, clearly exhausted and hungry from our hard labour.
We’d been digging a hole for Eri’s head for the past few hours, and it seemed like no progress was being made.
“...seaweed...” I say, I myself was exhausted.
“Huh, not too bad I guess.”
She dragged us toward the ocean and stopped abruptly. “You sure it’s safe down there?”
“Cawdet are the only Pokemon that bother going after Binacle. We should be safe.”
Making our way down to the seabed, I finally got the chance to take in the full beauty of the ocean.
Corsola snuggled against each other in clusters, Lumineon displayed their patterns gracefully to their future partners, and-
Suddenly someone rams into us.
“OUTTA MY WAY!”
A crazed Sharpedo... but why? It was morning, and Sharpedo shouldn’t be awake this early.
The Lumineon, ten times more surprised than us, scattered everywhere, their striped bodies and blood obscuring our sight.
When the chaos died down, we could see the Sharpedo was munching on one of his kills with sadistic pleasure.
Trying out absolute hardest not to scream and betray our position, we awkwardly scrambled away from the scene
“HEY! YOU TWO!”
We both froze in fear.
I felt it creep up behind us. “...Why don’t you tell me your names?” It said in a condescending tone. Its intentions were clear.
Stitch was the first to submit. “S-S-Stitch! Stitch and BinPin!!”
Sharpedo let out a menacing laugh. “Name’s Shadow. I suggest you follow me.”
Without any warning, Shadow picked us up in his toothy maw.
My life flashed before my eyes, and I could only wait for the literal jaws of death to close on us.
But.... nothing? Shadow sped on ahead with no intention to eat us, it seemed.
Considering the speed of Sharpedo, our ride probably only lasted for half a minute or so.
But to us...it felt like a lifetime, being completely helpless waiting for death.
We were dropped off.
Apparently, Shadow also brought along a mangled Lumineon corpse with us.
When we came to our senses, we realized we were outside of the entrance of a large cave.
“ROAN,” Shadow shouted into the cave’s entrance. “I got breakfast!”
Before long, a Panpour peered from a turn in the cave.
“Dude. You ate like half of it.”
Shadow bursted into laughter.
“Suck a Horsea cock bro.”, The Panpour mumbled before swimming back into its corner.
Shadow turned his attention back to us.
“P-please......” was the only thing I could muster.
Shadow’s grin grew wider. “You think..... I’m gonna eat you?! You’re in a rock! Think I’m gonna use my hands to pull you out?!”
His laughter was just as threatening as the first time we’d heard it.
“There’s a reason I brought you here, of course.” A more serious tone. “The way you were swimming.... Binacle don’t move that slowly. But you’re not injured...”
“Now how could a Binacle not know how to swim huh....?”
“Almost like you..... you aren’t Binacle...”
Stitch finally cracked. “W-WE AREN’T!!”
Shadow picked us up in his mouth once again. “All I needed to hear.”
“We’ll talk tomorrow. Crash with Roan for now.”
“FUCK YOU MAN” The Panpour shouted, before we were tossed into his room.
“If you can’t keep them alive for me, don’t expect me to go hunting for you again.”
Roan groaned loudly, then picked us up.
“Damn it.... Binacle always freaked me out.” He cleared out a corner. “You two, don’t leave here. I guess... you, the left one, your name’s Hax, the other one’s MU.”
“But we alre-“ I wasn’t able to finish before Roan began to leave. “Gonna go get some seaweed...”
The last we heard him, he was mumbling something about hoping Shadow’s fins were overridden by a Wailord.

CHAPTER 5:
Left in a dark corner with seemingly nothing, Stitch and I were finally able to think clearly.
Silence is deafening, I had always heard, and I’d never believed it until now.
We both sat in silence, wallowing in our own helplessness, waiting for the other to speak. I suppose someone had to.
“W-we have to leave this place.” Stitch managed to force something out of herself.
“Cross Chop,” I manage. “Binacle can learn Cross Chop.”
“So?”
“We aren’t getting past Shadow without a fight. He’s too fast.”
Stitch, too shaken to display her usual attitude, simply nodded slowly.
“By the way....,” Stitch began. “How could he have known that-“
“Yo.” Roan lazily swam in with a bundle of seaweed. He tossed some our way. “That’s all you’re getting today, I’m not getting my facking check until tomorrow.”
I’d completely forgotten how hungry we were; we didn’t even get the chance to find our own food before we were taken.
My first bite instantly wore away at the knot of fear that was present in my stomach.
I loved seaweed when I was just a Cawdet.
That brief feeling of familiarity anchored me to reality when I most needed to keep my head cool.
My head.....
Eri!
Nearly choking on my seaweed, I turn to Stitch. “We need to find Eri!”
She was similarly surprised. At least I wasn’t the only one who’d forgotten.
First, though, we needed to know as much about Shadow as possible.
“Hey, Roan...” The Panpour turned to us with an annoyed look.
“How long have you known Shadow?”
“Uhhh.... a week, maybe. I dunno man.”
He scratched his head. “Maybe my roommate would’ve remembered...”
“Where is he now? Maybe we could ask for-“ Roan held up a half-chewed bone, and dropped it, letting it sink to the floor. “Shadow happened. The guy never did his chores anyway.”
Seems Stitch had gotten her energy back. “What kind of reaction is that?!”
Ignoring Stitch’s question, Roan thought for a moment. “Listen, I’ll tell you everything I know if you can get rid of him. Don’t care how, I just want him gone.”
Stitch and I looked at each other, then nodded. We could get any information we wanted from Eri, but anything small from Roan would help. Besides, we were going to have to get through Shadow anyway.
“Sure. But you’re helping us.”
He somehow looked more annoyed than he already was. “BRO. I’m a PANPOUR.”
“...I can get someone else to help though, another new guy here.”
“A Primarina, I think his name was Placu? He came in maybe a day or two ago and he’s all anyone can talk about.” Roan clearly couldn’t care less about any of this.
“So it’s settled then. We’ll find Placu as quickly as we can and go from there.” For the first time in a long time, I felt somewhat confident.

CHAPTER 6:
“Now’s our chance...” Roan whispered as we made our way out of the cave as quietly as we could. According to him, Shadow only slept about an hour a day.
“Placu’s in the business district. Apparently they have some other strange Pokémon held there too.”
“Dunno though.... I’ve only heard this from one guy.”
“Who is this,” Stitch said, “and how can we trust them?”
“GΔCT. A Corsola. Shadow’s too stupid to notice him.”
“So Shadow isn’t the brightest then...” I’d been taking mental notes on everyone, even Stitch. I couldn’t trust anyone.
“Here we are.” Stitch and I looked upon the city with pure amazement. Each building was as sturdy as they were beautiful, being made of bioluminescent corals rooted into the ground.
“Placu and some others are being held in prison as far as I know. If we can find a way to talk to him, th-“ Roan paused and turned his head. “T-the Judgement Hall?”
The largest building had suddenly lit up, and the citizens stopped what they were doing and flooded into it as if they had no control over themselves.
The only sounds in the city were confused chatters and panicked screams. Nevertheless, they all entered.
Even Roan turned his back on the prison and carried us with him to this “Judgement Hall”
“Never thought this would happen again...,” He muttered. “Placu’s gonna have to wait.”
The inside of the Judgement Hall was haunting in its sheer beauty.
Even fully lit, an off-putting yet alluring darkness hung over its interior.
People filled into their seats by the thousands, with Roan, Stitch, and I being some of the last to enter. We took our seats at the top of the circular arena-like structure.
I finally caught sight of what was at the center of the stage: a massive, scale-like creature half buried in the sand, its single eye dull and lifeless. Whatever it was, it was clearly the focus of this building.
As I was studying the rusted scale machine, the Hall went completely silent.
A Slowking teleported onto a platform, above the ruins of the creature.
He looked upon the crowd with respect, but with a hint of superiority in his stance.
“200 years....,” His booming voice commanded respect. “for 200 years we have lived in the dark.”
“Without our God’s light, we stumbled blindly in this dark trying to replicate his work. We trampled his infallible judgement with weak imitations.”
“Today.”
“Today He will awaken again. A perfect soul has been chosen for this vessel, and He will judge the imperfect souls of those who wandered into our home.”
Armored Kingdra filed into the building, bringing with them shackled prisoners.
A Poliwrath, a Milotic, and... Primarina? Was this Placu?
Slowking spoke again. “These are the souls who lost themselves in our city.” The crowd murmured. “Your names, wanderers?”
The Poliwrath was the first to speak. “Ice.” Then the Milotic: “Kythr.” The Primarina: “Placu.”
A deep sense of dread hung over me. So it was Placu.... was this some sort of execution? If Placu was to be killed right now, our chances of escaping were.....
“And now, Equilibra will judge them. A Pokemon who’s truth is absolute, His answers final.”
“Shall He guide us to a most perfect future once again!”
The eye of the creature, Equilibra, began to glow, its massive body rising from the sand.
Pulling itself from the sand, it rearranged itself. Perfectly symmetrical.
An eerie, echoing machine-like sound resonated through the water, reaching the souls of all who had entered the Hall.
“REBOOTING . . . .”
“NEW DATA FOUND”
“I AM THE . . . NUMBER MAN ?”
Kyther and Ice seemed startled...
“CLEARING IRRELEVANT DATA . . . .”
“NO!” Ice the Poliwrath tried to break free from his shackles, but could only struggle helplessly.
“IT IS FINISHED .”
Ice fell to his knees and sobbed.
“JUDGEMENT . JUDGEMENT BEGINS NOW .”
The Number Man... or Equilibra? It rose higher, above the prisoners, its eye glowing brighter than before.
It stared at them for what seemed like hours before...
“IT IS FINISHED .”
It returned to its original position.
“ERROR . ERROR . SOULS . . . . INCOMPATIBLE? . . . . . ERROR 806 . . . . OVERRIDDEN .”
“806 OVERRIDDEN . JUDGEMENT WILL BE ADMINISTERED AS USUAL .”
Once again, the machine’s eye glowed. “. . . . . ALL SOULS JUDGED ARE PURE OF HEART . JUDGEMENT COMPLETE .”
Equilibra seemed to shut itself off completely, slowly floating back to the ground but standing perfectly straight.
The crowd cheered, and Slowking once again appeared.
“Our Lord has passed His judgement! These wandering souls are free of overbearing sin. As such, they will be integrated into our home as citizens!”
A louder cheer from the crowd.
Kythr and Ice, however, still wailed in mourning.
Placu was simply overwhelmed by confusion.
All 3 were dragged away by Kingdra with a raise of Slowking’s hand.
“And with that.... our Lord has graced us once again with His greatness. Live in comfort, my friends, for the era of uncertainty and fear has ended.”
“Do as you will on this holy day, and exist in everlasting peace. I bid you adieu, my people.”
After one final round of applause, Slowking teleported away, and the townspeople made their way out of the Judgement Hall.
