It has more speed, which can also outspeed pokemon like Pawniard and Vullaby, and ties with Snivy, Archen, and Onix, with the latter being able to potentially avoiding getting crippled by Taunt. Its lone typing can be useful by avoiding OHKO from Pancham's Mach Punch and Eviolite Staryu's Steam Eruption from full HP and can switch in on Mareanie and defensive Frillish's Steam Eruption and Foongus' Giga Drain for the sole purpose of getting the screens up as soon as possible. However, Vulpix Alola is rarely useful outside of Aurora Veil due to its middling stats.
