Groudon can survive +6 Extreme Speed and Superpower from Slaking, something that only it and Ghost Types can do. However, it needs support to work, its main flaw is that it only reliably works against Jolly Slaking, as Adamant Slaking will OHKO it more often than not and Impish Slaking will never take enough damage from Superpower to die a Belly Drum. Groudon often requiring either sand or spikes support even against non +Def Slaking and has to keep itself safe from any form of chip damage to avoid dying to boosted Extreme Speed. Groudon shouldn't be used as your main Slaking answer, however, it provides sun support for Sacred Fire Latios, which can deny Slaking. No Ability Groudon can be used in Tyranitar teams to better deal with Slaking, as Superpower + 1 round of sand damage will be enough to deny it. Protect is an alternative option to Dragon Dance as a way to stack up damage against Slaking in sand and scout Choice Band Slaking, though it carries the risk of Slaking using Belly Drum as you Protect.
