---------------------
Overview: With access to Taunt, Spikes, Roar and a variety of other good moves, Quilladin is a great utility Pokemon. Quilladin has good bulk, especially on the physical side, which allows it to set up Spikes on a decent number of Pokemon in the tier such as Mareanie, Prinplup, Krokorok and Metang. Thanks to Bulletproof, it also walls and exploits Roselia and Gloom. However, its only offensive move on its main sets is Wood Hammer and this leaves it vulnerable to being checked by Pokemon which resist Grass-type attacks.
---------------------
SpDef Taunt + Spikes: This specially defensive Quilladin set can check special attackers such as Electabuzz and Kadabra and it can also tank one hit from Frogadier. Taunt has two main purposes on Quilladin. Firstly, it prevents slower bulkier walls such as Clefairy, Roselia, Mareanie and Duosion from boosting, recovering or setting up hazards. It also prevents slower Defog users such as Prinplup, Togetic and Vibrava from removing Spikes off the field. Spikes pressure any opposing team archetype well and Quilladin's good typing and bulk lets it set up Spikes freely on a reasonable chunk of the metagame. Synthesis is its most reliable healing move, providing immediate 50% HP restoration when needed. Wood Hammer is a good STAB attack which hits Ground- and Water-types such as Prinplup, Krokorok, Marshtomp and Wartortle for good damage. Super Fang is a very good move for a passive Pokemon like Quilladin because it reduces the HP of bulky walls such as Clefairy, Roselia, Mareanie, Metang, Gloom and other switch-ins by 50%.
---------------------
PhysDef Taunt + Spikes: This physically defensive Quilladin set checks physical attackers such as Machoke, Croconaw and Marill better than the specially defensive set.
---------------------
Checks and Counters: Fire-types such as Monferno, Combusken, Magmar and Torracat are a serious threat to Quilladin since they hit it for super effective damage with their STAB attacks. Poison-types which do not use Sludge Bomb as their STAB attack such as Haunter and Alolan Grimer can threaten Quilladin out of the field with their STAB attacks. Offensive Flying-types such as Staravia, Nasty Plot Togetic and Trumbeak are also huge threats, as they can hit Quilladin hard. Quilladin itself is also susceptible to Taunt since its main purpose on most teams is to set up Spikes.
---------------------
Optional EV/IV(s): An alternative spread of 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe with a Jolly nature is viable for the Belly Drum, Seed Bomb, Drain Punch and Stone Edge Quilladin set. This set acts as a potent wallbreaker against bulkier teams and can set up on passive Pokemon such as Clefairy and Togetic or on Roselia and Gloom thanks to Bulletproof.
