---------------------
Overview: With good bulk, no weaknesses, an immunity to Spikes, and a variety of good utility moves, Eelektrik fulfills its niche as a good bulky pivot, capable of annoying and weakening opposing teams. However, low speed and a lack of reliable recovery hold it back. It also competes with Electabuzz as an Electric-type pivot.
---------------------
Offensive Pivot: The offensive pivot set hits hard and has access to utility moves which most teams do not appreciate switching into, while having enough defensive utility to check Pokemon like Metang and Klang well. Knock Off is a fantastic move in the metagame, capable of removing Eviolite from the majority of Pokemon and making them easier to break through. It also hits Ghost- and Psychic-types such as Haunter, Metang, Misdreavus, and Dusclops hard. Wild Charge is a strong STAB attack which hits Flying- and Water-types such as Prinplup, Staravia, Vullaby, and Wartortle hard. U-turn lets Eelektrik chip down expected switch-ins, while also gaining momentum. Super Fang does 50% of the opposing Pokemon's current HP in damage, making it a fantastic utility move against Pokemon with unreliable or no recovery.
---------------------
Bulky SpDef Pivot: The bulky SpDef pivot set is less threatening, but can switch in more easily to special attacks and can check special threats such as Frogadier, Haunter, Kadabra, and Roselia better. Discharge serves as a recoil-less STAB attack which chips opposing Pokemon, but also offers a 30% chance to inflict paralysis.
---------------------
CroTrik: CroTrik is a late-game wincon, capable of setting up and winning games once Pokemon which are immune to Electric-type attacks have been eliminated. Coil boosts Eelektrik's Attack, Defense and accuracy by +1. Rest and Sleep Talk provide it with longevity and the ability to boost or attack when asleep.
---------------------
Checks and Counters: Bulky Pokemon such as defensive Clefairy, Servine, Quilladin, Marshtomp, and Gloom can wall Eelektrik, although none appreciate switching into Knock Off or U-turn in Servine's case. On the offensive side, Dragon-types such as Sliggoo, Fraxure, and Hakamo-o can freely set up on Eelektrik and threaten it out. Eelektrik is very susceptible to chip from Stealth Rock, switching into weak attacks, and potential Wild Charge recoil. Therefore, it becomes very easy to revenge kill when low. The CroTrik set is walled by all Ground-types and is also very weak to Phazers such as Quilladin, Gabite, and Hippopotas. Servine can also break through it, and Dragon-types like Fraxure and Hakamo-o can boost alongside it.
