Overview: Dartrix is a good Defog user, thanks to its reliable recovery, and can be a decent wallbreaker and cleaner due to its solid STAB moves and access to Swords Dance. However, its weakness to Stealth Rock means it can struggle to switch in multiple times during the course of a games, whilst the more offensive set can be revenge killed relatively easily due to its below average Speed stat.
---------------------
SpDef Defog: This specially defensive spread specifically lets Dartrix eat two Sludge Bombs, even if it gets poisoned, from the most common specially defensive Roselia set, whilst also being able to outspeed and OHKO Roselia with Brave Bird if Stealth Rock is up. Brave Bird hits Fighting- and Grass-types, most notably Machoke, Roselia, and Servine, for super effective damage. Leaf Blade is another good STAB move which hits Water- and Ground-types such as Frogadier, Marshtomp, and Krokorok hard. Defog clears hazards from both sides of the field. Roost gives Dartrix some longevity, allowing it to switch in to check special threats, such as Kadabra, Servine, and Electabuzz, or clear hazards for its teammates.
---------------------
Swords Dance Flyinium Z: This more offensive set lets Dartrix be a wallbreaker with a one time nuke thanks to Flyinium Z boosting its already strong Brave Bird. Swords Dance boosts Dartrix's attack by two stages, allowing Dartrix to hit even harder with its dual STAB attacks. Sucker Punch makes up for Dartrix's mediocre speed, giving it a form of priority to hit faster threats such as Haunter and Kadabra, which both could otherwise revenge kill it easily.
---------------------
Checks and Counters: Fire-types such as Monferno, Combusken, Torracat, and Magmar are all faster than Dartrix and can threaten Dartrix out with a super effective attack. Bulky Flying-types, such as Staravia and Vullaby, can easily switch into its dual STAB attacks comfortably and force Dartrix out with their own STAB attack. Pokemon carrying Ice-type coverage such as Sliggoo, Frogadier, and Marshtomp are able to OHKO Dartrix but the latter two cannot safely switch into it. Steel-types, such as Pawniard, Klang, and Metang, all resist its dual STAB attacks and the former two are also able to use Dartrix as setup bait.
---------------------
Optional EV/IV(s): An alternative spread of 136 HP / 252 Def / 120 Spe with an Impish nature lets Dartrix check physical Stealth Rock users such as Krokorok and Marshtomp better than the specially defensive set, at the cost of being unable to reliably switch into Roselia to Defog away Spikes.
