Notes: Misdreavus is a decently versatile pokemon, which can perform its purposes pretty well. The Nasty Plot set is aimed to be a bulky sweeper, and/or wallbreaker. +2 SpA Shadow Ball has the ability to have a guaranteed 2HKO on Dusclops, and also 2HKO's normal non-boosted Calm Mind Clefairy at +2 SpA. Dazzling Gleam or Hidden Power Fighting are meant to be coverage moves, targetted at its main counters: Dark types. Misdreavus naturally OHKO's Krokorok on the switch in with Dazzling Gleam, and deals a decent amount of damage to Grimer-A, but not enough to stay in on it. Wil-o-wisp helps to cripple both of these mons, putting the opposition at a disadvantage in terms of attack power. Substitute can also be used if status is a threat to Mismagius, such as Paralysis or Poisoning. The Offensive Support is meant to be less aimed at sweeping and wallbreaking and more at crippling your opponent's pokemon. Wil-o-Wisp cripples their offensive attacking mons, which can range from Metang to Fraxure, or even just to cripple Ferroseed. Thunder Wave is another option if your team is in more a need of slowing down the opposition. Hex plays off of status very well, as its attack is increased when the opponent is statused. Dazzling Gleam is also for coverage in this set. Taunt serves as prevention from hazard stacking or the opposing pokemon setting on you. Memento weakens the opposing pokemon, allowing pokemon like Eevee to set up easily. Destiny Bond can simply be an extra niche if you believe you don't need to taunt and to get a surprise step ahead on the opposition. Finally, for bulky support. Wil-o-Wisp to status and cripple the opposition, Pain Split serves as both somewhat recovery and bringing the opposing mon into KO range or just lowering it's HP significantly, which can then have more damage dealt to it with Shadow Ball. Taunt prevents
Checks and Counters: Knock Off is Misdreavus's biggest counter since it is both super-effective and takes away a significant amount of Misdreavus's bulk. SpD walls, such as Dragonair and Roselia can pose as threats because of their ability to take a hit from Misdreavus and come back with either a force switch-out or status. This can be prevented with either taunt or substitute depending on the situation. Taunt can also be problematic as all the moves that make Misdreavus much more powerful cannot be used, such as Nasty Plot or statusing moves.
Other Options: Heal Bell is an option for either Offensive Support or Bulky Support as it can be vital to many different teams weakened significantly by status. Hex is also another option for Bulky Support as it goes side-by-side with status, however, it does not give the occasional SpD drop and relies on status for power.
