-1 252+ Atk Choice Band Stoutland Stomping Tantrum vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Mawile: 128-152 (42.1 - 50%) -- 0.4% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
In return for accepting the risk of Band Stoutland Stomping Tantrum, Mawile still answers other Band Stoutland and can use Taunt more effectively.
Occa Berry and Counter can be used to stop Monferno and Rapidash sweeps. Notably Counter can surprise KO many other physical attacker.
Shed Shell allows Mawile to avoid being trapped by Probopass. This would be especially useful for a set that has more consistent recovery, like resttalk.
228 Spe EVs and Timid nature outspeeds unboosted Rock Polish Torterra.
There is Life Orb Sheer Force set that can utilize many of the moves under 'Additional move options.' This set is usually outclassed and fragile.
160 SpA Life Orb Sheer Force Mawile Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Torterra: 395-468 (100.2 - 118.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Sheer Force negates Life Orb damage when a move with a secondary effect is used.
While a SpD set may seem tempting, Mawile fails to beat enough extra Pokemon to warrant its use.
